GDP "trillion club" cities have expanded to 16. Who will be next?

Beijing, Feb. 19 (Reporter Li Jinlei) For a city, it is a symbol of the city’s economic strength that GDP ranks among the "trillion clubs". At present, the economic report cards in 2018 have been announced one after another, and the total GDP of Ningbo and Zhengzhou has exceeded one trillion yuan for the first time, so the number of cities with GDP exceeding one trillion in China has expanded to 16.

The GDP of Ningbo and Zhengzhou exceeded one trillion yuan.

Ningbo and Zhengzhou ushered in their own glorious moments.

According to statistics from Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Statistics, in 2018, the total GDP of Ningbo reached 1,074.55 billion yuan, which exceeded one trillion yuan for the first time, making it the 15th city in China to enter the "Trillion Club".

As a world-famous port city, Zhoushan Port in Ningbo ranks first in the world in cargo throughput for 10 consecutive years, and its container throughput is 26.351 million TEUs, ranking third in the world.

According to the data of Zhengzhou Municipal Bureau of Statistics, according to preliminary accounting, in 2018, the city’s regional GDP reached 1,014.33 billion yuan, up 8.1% year-on-year, and the total economic output exceeded 1 trillion yuan for the first time.

Zhengzhou, which is striving to build a national central city, is the only "double cross" center in the national ordinary railway and high-speed railway network, and its permanent population in 2018 also exceeded the 10 million mark for the first time.

The number of cities with GDP exceeding one trillion has expanded to 16.

With the joining of Ningbo and Zhengzhou, the number of cities with GDP exceeding one trillion in China has increased to 16.

Previously, there were 14 cities with GDP exceeding one trillion.

In chronological order, Shanghai’s GDP exceeded one trillion in 2006, Beijing’s in 2008, Guangzhou’s in 2010, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Suzhou and Chongqing’s in 2011, Wuhan and Chengdu’s in 2014, Hangzhou’s in 2015, Nanjing and Qingdao’s in 2016 and Wuxi and Qingdao’s in 2017.

In terms of distribution, the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration has the largest number of cities with GDP exceeding one trillion, with six cities, including Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi and Ningbo.

The GDP of Shanghai and Beijing exceeded 3 trillion.

Among these 16 cities, Shanghai and Beijing are undoubtedly the first echelon, and their GDP has reached the order of 3 trillion.

Who is the next member of the Trillion Club?

Originally, Foshan was expected to become a "trillion-dollar club" in GDP in 2018, but in the end it was still a short step. According to the government work report of Foshan in 2019, Foshan achieved a regional GDP of 993.588 billion yuan in 2018, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%, only one step away from 1 trillion yuan.

As a manufacturing center in the Pearl River Delta, Foshan is also facing the pressure of economic transformation. This year, Foshan will strengthen and supplement the industrial chain, and enhance the position of "Made in Foshan" in the global industrial chain, supply chain and value chain. In 2019, Foshan became a "trillion club" city or no suspense.

In addition, Xi ‘an, Quanzhou, Dongguan, Nantong, and Jinan after the merger of Laiwu are also reserve forces, and their total GDP has reached the order of 800 billion.

Among them, in 2018, Jinan’s GDP reached 785.656 billion yuan, and the original Laiwu’s GDP exceeded 100 billion yuan. In 2019, Jinan’s GDP is expected to increase by about 7.5%. If this goal is achieved, Jinan is not far from the "trillion club".
